NCBI has updated GenBank and RefSeq annotations for D. melanogaster on Oct 16, 2015 and Oct 19, 2015, respectively. The GenBank and RefSeq releases at NCBI correspond to FlyBase annotation release 6.07 as found in our FB2015_04 release. We recommend using this annotation release for those who wish to have a frozen reference annotation set for their analyses.
In addition, the GenBank annotations for the species listed in table 1 have been updated to reflect the annotations currently in FlyBase that are based on the NCBI gnomon pipeline. The annotation release to which these correspond are indicated in the table. Note that a few cases of spurious partial rRNA annotations were eliminated by genbank and will also be eliminated in the FB2016_01 release of FlyBase. The annotations affected are listed in table 2.
FB2015_04, the FlyBase release that contains all of these annotation sets will be maintained as a live archive accessible from the ‘Archives’ page in FlyBase.
