Please Vote In The Fly Board Election
FlyBase News

Dear Drosophila researcher,

Elections for the National Drosophila Board of Directors for 2024 are now open. The Fly Board plays an important role in the Drosophila research community, so please read this message carefully and cast your vote.

Vote Now

The Fly Board's duties include:

  • Overseeing community resource centers
  • Addressing other research and resource matters affecting the fly community
  • Selecting the organizers and site for the annual North America Drosophila Research Conference and administering conference finances and its associated awards

The Fly Board is made up of:

  • 13 regional representatives: eight from the United States and one each from Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Australia/Oceania
  • One representative for primarily undergraduate institutions
  • Two early career representatives (one graduate student and one postdoc)

All elected representatives serve three year terms, except the early career representatives who serve two year terms.

The Fly Board is led by three elected officers serving three-year terms: a President, a President-elect (or Vice President), and a Treasurer. Additionally, the Board has ex officio members, including past-Presidents, meeting organizers, and representatives of the Drosophila community resource centers.

This year, we are electing the President-elect who will serve as President starting with the Fly meeting in 2025 and representatives from Canada and four US regions including Southeast, the Great Lakes, the Heartland, and Midwest.
